Hi Stampin' Friends

I decided to dust off the Lovely as a Tree Wood Mount Stamp Set and use it for the New Techniques class last week.  It was perfect for the "reflections" technique.  In case you are not familiar with this technique, you use acetate to create a reflection.

In case you are not familiar with the technique:

1. Ink your image and stamp it on cardstock.  
2. Ink your image with the same ink and stamp it on your piece of window sheet. 
3. Flip your piece of window sheet over so your stamped image is facing down.
4. Line it up with your first image to create your reflection. Place window sheet on cardstock.
5. Rub over your window sheet. It will transfer the image from the window sheet to your cardstock.

I don't know why the Confetti Cream Card Stock looks so yellow in the picture.  IRL the card stock and New Editions DSP match perfectly!

Creative Elements Part 2

Hi Stampin' Friends

I received my Holiday mini today and all I can saw is WOW!!!!! - stay tuned.

Here's the matching card to yesterday's bird house using the Creative Elements Stamp Set.   The ladies at Linda's private class on Thursday will be making these two items.

The technique for this card is called reverse masking and I got the idea from Patty Bennett's blog. 

The butterfly is the new Elegant Butterfly Punch from page 184 of the 2012/2013 Catalog.  This punch coordinates with the new elegant Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set found on page 115 of the new catalog.  Aren't these butterflies gorgeous?  I just ordered this set and it's on its way to me WHOOHOO!

I love the way these match perfectly!  And I love the colors - the Summer Starfruit is starting to grow on me.  Love it with the Cajun Craze color.  What do you think of the Summer Starfruit?  It's one of the new 2012/2014 in colors.

I was so excited about the Holiday Mini Catalog and my favorite top ten that I forgot to post this card.  It's for the New Techniques Class on Friday and the technique the ladies will learn is called Delft Tile.  Here's the other card I made for class.

 

I'll be back tomorrow with a card using Gently Falling and the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini.  I absolutely love the colors of Soft Suede, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz together.  They are gorgeous but I'll show you tomorrow!

Bella Toile for New Techniques Class

Either I forgot or I did not notice that the Bella Toile Background Stamp retired!  I tried looking for it in the online catalog to get the number and it wasn't there.  This is so beautiful - how could it retire! Oh well, I think the ladies will still use it for Friday's New Technique Class.  The technique is called Deft Tile.  Basically, what you do is score lines over your card stock before stamping.

Lovely as a Tree

Before I get into today's post, I would like to introduce you to our newest member of the family - DD.

 Her name is DD for Daylight Donuts!  I found her outside Daylight Donuts yesterday.  My BFF Jane and I were having donuts and coffee and I noticed this little kitten outside.  She would go up to everyone who was either going in or going out and meow and rub up against them.   When I was leaving, she did the same thing to me and I picked her up because she looked so pitiful and frighten.  I took her home first because I had to meet the Benton County Termite sprayer and didn't have time to go to the animal shelter.   She ended up spending the day with us  and the rest is history....... She is the cutest thing and is housebroken already so I'm glad I don't have to deal with that.  She's already made a friend in Rachel! 
Today's card features the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set and it is for Friday's New Techniques Class.  The technique is called "Thumping".  Webster's dictionary defines "thumping" as to strike or beat with or as if with something thick or heavy so as to cause a dull sound.  But in our world, thumping means to add more color to your image before stamping by tapping a darker colored marker over an inked image. 
In this case, I colored the image first with the Old Olive Stampin'  Write Marker for the leaves and the Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker for the limbs and trunk on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  I then "thumped" Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Marker randomly over the leaves.  Note:  Use the side of the Stampin' Write Brush so that you don't ruin your tip!

The pattern paper is Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper (check out our 3 for 1 promotion this month).  The ribbon is the retired Chocolate Chip 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.  The ribbon is retired but you can still get in from the Clearance Rack for less than half its original cost!  The button is from the retired Buttons Latte.  Base card is Confetti Cream Card Stock which was embossed using the new fabulous Stripes Textured Imressions Embossing Folder.

Flower Garden

This card is for Friday's New Techniques Class.  The technique has been called "double embossing" and "dry and wet/heat embossing".   I'll have a video on how to do this technique after the class on Friday.  The other card the ladies will be making can be found here. 

 
The embossing folder used for this card is called Flower Garden and it's from the Summer Mini catalog.  One of the things I like about this embossing folder is that it is part of the Beyond the Garden Suite and coordinates beautifully with the Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper, The Fabulous Florets Stamp Set and the Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi and Melon Mambo Stampin' Embossing Powders.

I think that this is my favorite sentiment from the retiring All the Holidays Stamp Set.  Whether you need a quick Mother’s Day card or a creepy Halloween tag, this assortment of greetings covers most of the year's holidays!

I used it with the Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paperwhich is also retiring on 30 June 2011.  One of the things I love about Stampin' UP! is that everything coordinates!  For example, this DSP coordinates with Always Elegant stamp set, Elegance Stampin' Around wheel, and the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions embossing folder.

 

The lace roses are made using a technique that was going around the blogsphere last year.  I pulled up this video I made on the technique just in case you wanted to brush up on how to make the roses.  In the video, it shows me using the sticky strip for the card stock circle but now that we have the Sticky Pages, that's what I used for the circle.

Fabulous Florets - Pacific Point

With the Fabulous Florets Stamp Set from the Summer Mini Catalog, you can create vibrant, lovely floral images for a card for a dear friend.  For today's card, I've used this stamp set, the colors Pacific Point and Pear Pizzazz and the technique called the floating reinker technique.  I tried to keep it simple because I didn't want the design to take away from the reinker technique.  Overall, I think it's turned amazing!  I love the serene cool colors.  Let me know what you think!

Bleaching Upsy Daisy

Today's card features the Bleaching Technique (using your stamps and household bleach) which the ladies will be making on Friday, 1 April 2011.  I know that it's been around for a while but I thought it was time to try it again.  The other card for the New Techniques Class can be found here.

 
I just love the way this turned out.  I stamped the image (from Inspired by Nature Stamp Set) with bleach on Concord Crush Card Stock and the bleached out images match Sahara Sand so I decided to use Sahara Sand Card Stock as the base card.  The brads are from the5/16 Neutrals Brads collection and the pattern paper is from the In-Color Designer Series Paper Patterns Stack.

Tip:

If you are anal like me then everything has to matched.  I colored the light part of the ribbon with the Sahara Sand Stampin' Write Marker to coordinate with the rest of the card.

The flower image was perfect for the bleaching technique.  I tried it 3 different times and each one was different.  And they were all gorgeous!

I'm working on a video that shows you how it's done but I probably won't post it until after the New Techniques Class.  But if you have any questions, please ask away!

One of the finishes touches to the card which made it simple yet elegant was the Chantilly Crochet Trim  single knot to the 1 1/4" Rich Razzleberry Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and the 3 little Basic Pearls.  Yes, my supply of pearls is in and I will not run out again!

The background is Very Vanilla Card Stock embossed with the Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The overall effect is like a watercolor painting within a frame!

I used the same technique (markers and alcohol) as yesterday's card.  The colors in the pears just blended in beautifully. I used Daffodil Delight and (what else but) Pear Pizzazz for the coloring of the pears!

This is going to be my favorite way to watercolor from now on!

Happiness Shared and we have a winner for the Free Stamp Set of the Month!

I love the gorgeously life-like flowers in our Happiness Shared Stamp Set.   The markers I used were ideal for coloring these images to bring them to life.  I'll be showing the ladies how to color with alcohol (not the drinking kind!) and markers at the New Techniques class on Friday, 4 March 2011.

 
I first stamped the image with Jet Black Stazon and then started to color in with the Poppy Parade Stampin' Write Marker and aqua painter but (maybe) I had too much alcohol that the lines ran!  I next tried Basic Black Craft Ink and Black Embossing Powder and I liked the contrast between the Poppy Parade and Black so much better.

I liked coloring in with the marker and alcohol filled aqua painter.  The colors blend so smoothly no matter how  many passes with your aqua painter. The colors did not wash out and stayed true to color.

I sponged Soft Suede all around the flower but I'm not happy with it - next time I'll leave the sponging off.

3D Stampin'

This Upsy Daisy Stamp Set, with its variety of greetings and classic daisy silhouette image, is an excellent gift for the daisy connoisseur.  And it's perfect for 3D stamping! This is the 2nd card the ladies will be making at the New Techniques Class on Friday, 25 February 2011.  The other card for the class can be found here - Just Believe.

 

The image was stamped on Whisper White Card Stockwith Concord Crush Classic Ink, then stamped a 2nd time without reinking the stamp.  I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to align the 2nd image to just right of the first image. The base card is the Concord Crush Card Stock layered with the In-color Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.  The ribbon is Concord Crush 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon.

Note:  I lost the imaging sheet from the Stamp-a-ma-jig during last week's class.  I was able to substitute a 6" x 6" transparency for the imaging sheet.

Just Believe

Hi Stampers

My post today will be very short because I had my eyes dilated  for an exam and I can barely see.  It's a good thing I made the card before the Optometrist visit!

 

This card is for next week's Technique Class.  The technique is called  3D Stamping where you create a 3D look by over-stamping your solid image with a slightly darker ink.

Who doesn't {heart} hearts? Especially the hearts in this delightful set. You'll love them even more when you discover they coordinate with our heart punches! I'm a little tired of Fall and Christmas cards so I decided to make a valentine card for the 2nd card of the New Techniques Class.  If you would like to attend, click here for all the details. 

The technique is called inlaid embossing and was so much fun to do.   Again, I'm showing the ladies how to do this techniques so I won't describe how I made this until after the class on Friday.  

 I also made the decorative label a little longer so that it would fit the sentiment.  I think you can see what I did to make the label longer in this picture.   I punched out two labels and cut one in half.  I then adhered the sentiment to one label (in the middle) and added the two pieces from the second label to each side.  If you have any question on how to make this label, please contact me at [email protected].  But if you attend the class, I'll show you how to make it then.

Day of Gratitude - New Techniques Class

Hope you are enjoying a nice quiet Sunday.  My husband and I went to a dinner theatre today put on by the Highlands Methodist Church in Bella Vista, AR.  The show was outstanding and I loved it.  I couldn't believe so many talented singers belong to the same church! 

 
Today's card showcases the Day of Gratitude Stamp Set.  I love the folksy images in this set - they look like they were hand carved in a New England wood shop and decided to use it  for a techniques I first saw on Glenda Calkins' blog.  She called it inlaid embossing.  I won't go into the details because I'm showing the ladies this technique at the class on Friday.

I've also made a video which I will post this weekend (after the class) with the card recipe.  I'm finally back to making videos!  Whoohoo!
