Hi Stampin' Friends

We finally went to the post office to get our mail and I want to thank you for the beautiful birthday cards I received while I was gone.  I will be posting them as soon as I've taken pictures or scanned them.  You guys are the best and I really appreciate you!

As we went up the coast to Santa Barbara Wine Country, we found the perfect spot for David to launch his kayak

 

Our favorite winery is Rancho Sisquoc.  We started going there in the 1980's and love how quaint it has stayed.

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that we were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary.  In going through some pictures for another project, I came across a picture that was taken during the wedding.  I guess it's one that didn't make it into the album.

We were married on 14 February 1993 at the Loveland Ski area near Denver.  We are wearing ski clothes (even the minister!) because we chose to be married in a quaint little cabin at the top of Lift 2.  We had champagne after the wedding and I remember thinking I didn't want to drink too much because we still had to ski down to the lodge!

Anyhoo!  Today's card does not have any stamping in on it - I chose to use one of the "love" tickets from the Artisan Embellishment Kit.  I love, love this kit and I've ordered several because I don't want to run out of the gorgeous lace that's included in the kit.

The ticket, rose and lace were taken from the Artisan Embellishment Kit and the strip of DSP is from the More Amore Designer Series Paper.  The background is Primrose Petals that was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  The base card is Crumb Cake Card Stock.

Happy New Year!

My husband and I decided to celebrate in the New Year by going out to lunch instead of dinner - too many crazies out on New Year's eve!

We went to the River Grill, a long time favorite and toasted in the New Year at noon.   We look so serious but it's all the pictures I have from the lunch.  I forgot to ask the waiter to take our picture.

So what are your resolutions for the new year?  I don't have any but my husband had a list broken down by categories - what a list taker he is!

I have the best relationships with my customers and have really enjoyed getting to know them throughout my demonstratorship.  A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to one of my customers, Kathy, about my cat since I know that she has two cats a couple of months older than DD.  She recommended a book she and her husband really enjoyed reading and she promised to e-mail me the name of the book.  A couple of weeks went by and it was in the back of my mind to remind her to send me the title when I received a package in the mail today!

Thank you so much Kathy, what a nice surprise and very much appreciated!  I'll start reading it tonight - the Game of Thrones will just have to wait.

Shoguns

Last night we took a break from unpacking and took my daughter and her son to dinner at Shoguns for making straight A's during the last semester.

I am so proud of both of them.  My daughter is married with 3 children, works and is attending college.  I don't know how she can keep up with everything someone in her position has to do and still make straight A's.

It's been a busy day

I don't have a card for you today.  It's my husband's birthday and we went out to dinner to celebrate!

We spent the day packing (an ongoing long long process!), met with the movers and then went out to dinner.  David is going on an 8 mile hike tomorrow with his buddies - not bad for an "old" man!

On a personal note, went out to dinner with a good friend Carol and her husband Roger.  The restaurant is called Petit Bistro and the food is excellent!  But the best part is the dessert!  Doesn't this look delicious?  It was worth every calorie.

Blog Contest!

As you many of you know I rescued a kitty about a month ago outside Daylight Donuts.  I kept her and named her DD (for Daylight Donuts).  I think she needs a sister and brother because she is such a playful kitten and needs someone to run, wrestle and play with.

 
She has no one to play with and she resorted to wrestling with Rachel's stuffed animals!  I've asked my husband if we could get another kitten to keep her company and so far he's said no.

Out of the mouths of babes

I mentioned in my post yesterday that my son-in-law's father died this week.  The funeral was today and coming back from the cemetery, I was talking to my granddaughter Rachel about what had just taken place.  I told her that her grandfather was in a better place and that it would be a long time before her daddy would see his dad again.  She said that when her daddy was sad and missed him, he could visit his daddy at the cemetery.  But she said that he would have to bring a screw driver because there were a lot of nails on the box!  Where does she get these ideas!

Happy Birthday David!

Hi Stampers

Today was my dh's birthday and I didn't get any stamping done!  We celebrated by going out to lunch at David's favorite place called Crabbys.

 
It was a wonderful relaxing lunch.  The food there is outstanding and even though I do not like seafood, I can always find something delicious to eat.

 
Please excuse the lack of eye makeup!  I had cataract surgery on Friday 2/18/2011 and not able to curl my eyelashes, or put on eyeliner or mascara yet.  With my cataract surgery, I have officially joined the ranks of the "older" crowd! (ha, ha).

I bought David a Kindle for his birthday and now we have "his and hers" Kindles!  I love mine and finally talked David into trying one.

 

 I'll have a card for you tomorrow.  I'm working on a techniques card for Friday's class.

Dinner at Ermilio's, Eureka Springs, AR

Hi Stampers

I'm working on two cards but was not able to finish them to show you because my husband whisked me away to dinner at Ermilio's in Eureka Springs which is about 1 1/2 hours away.  I did take a lot of pictures though I'll only show you a couple.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area.  We have been going to Ermilio's since 1993 when we first moved to Northwest Arkansas.

   
That's me - I decided I am going to start getting in front of the camera or else my grand-kids are someday going to ask - now what did Grandma look like?  I usually don't take pictures because I hate the way I look!

This is what the inside looks like - very old world looking - love it!

David's favorite is the baked garlic which you can spread on bread and my favorite is the stuffed mushrooms.  They are absolutely delicious.  Also, one of the few places that serves Woodbridge Chardonnay - another favorite - probably the only wine I'll drink.

On our way home - this area is so beautiful especially in September.

Beaver Lake - we used to live along Beaver Lake and loved the peace and quiet.  But by 2002 it was too noisy with all the ski-doo's (I think that's what they are called) and power boats and moved to Bella Vista.
