I love the gorgeous plus size image that is the Swallow Tail.  And I've seen so many beautful cards made with this stamp - from vintage/shabby chic to modern/clean and simple.

Elegant Eggplant and Very Vanilla is one of my favorite combinations though I don't use it very often; but when I do, it reminds how much I love it! (go figure).  

I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest - that place is so full of gorgeous cards and I come away inspired.  The best way to find a card is to type in the stamp set name and you can add the type of card, i.e., shabby chic, vintage, bold, simple, etc.

The wing was stamped on the Elegant Eggplant Card Stock with Versamark.  I added White Emboss Powder and set with the Heat Tool.  The oval image was stamped off several times before stamping on Naturals Ivory Card Stock.  The sentiment was stamped with Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink.  The flowers are from the 5/8" Flower Trim and were lightly sponged with Elegant Eggplant.  The leaves (Subltes Collection Designer Series Paper Stack) are from the Bird Punch.

Simply Sketched - sneak peek

Hi Stampin' Friends

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  For me, it's so nice to be home and relaxing.  It was a whirlwind 2 1/2 weeks in California and I am enjoying the peace and quiet back home.

Today's card features the Hostess Stamp Set called Simply Sketched.  I'm also using the new Ginger Garden Designer Series Paper for the background.

I love the blue and yellow combination - it just screams Spring!  

The ladies will be making this card at the Big Shot class on Wednesday, 29 May 2013.  I have one opening left if you live in the Bella Vista, AR area and would like to attend.  Just let me know and I'll send you all the information.

They will learn how to make the roses shown on the card using a die cut (non-SU).  I was going to add a ruffled bow right under the roses on the left but I didn't want to make it too complicated or difficult because two of the ladies are beginners and I would not want to scare them away (LOL). 

The sentiment is from the hostess stamp set, Simply Sketched, and is available with a qualifying order.  Though it is not very clear in the picture, I put the bottom strip of DSP through the Big Shot using the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder and then die cut using the Large Scallops Edgelits Die.

Dapper Tanner

I was fortunate enough to be in California for my grandson's (Tanner) prom.  The kids always look so gorgeous when they dress up for prom.  When I first saw Anissa's (Tanner's girlfriend) dress, I immediately thought Strawberry Slush!

I made a card to send him to let him know how proud I am of him and the fine young man he is turning out to be.

I used the Dapper Dad Clear Mount Stamp Set from the Spring Catalog.   This set was not in the big catalog but it still might make it if it comes out in the Spring Catalog carry-over list.  I hope so because you can use this set for more than Father's Day - it's so vertsatile.

Happy Birthday to my best friend Becky

It seems like such a long time since I've posted a card!  I made this card for my best friend Becky but couldn't share it before I gave it to her.

The card show cases the Artisan Embellishments Kit which did not make it into the new catalog.  I will have to stock up on this kit because I love using it for my cards.  The leaves are the the Bird Punch.

The top layered was embossed using the Simply Scored Diaganol Plate #125586.  The embossed image above the Happy Birthday is from the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder which is retiring this month (whaaaaaaa).

Every morning I spend a couple of hours working on my business and my granddaughter plays on her computer while I'm working.  The room we are in is my son-in-law Gary's "man cave".  We are sitting at the bar.

This is the outside I see when working at the computer - not a bad place to work!   If it wasn't so hazy outside, you could see the ocean and the Channel Islands.  Hmmmmmmm, maybe they will let me move in!

I forgot to let everyone know abou the winner of the "Guess Which Stamp Sets are Retiring" contest.  The winner was C. Wright of Oklahoma.  She won ten out of ten guesses and has a $20 certificate off her next order.  Congratulations C!

Today's card is for my friend Jane.  I usually give her a shabby chic girly card but because I am giving her the book, The Bridges of Madison county as a gift, I decided to use an image from an old Stampin' Up! set called Changing Seasons (2003).  I loved the Bridges of Madison County - when I first read it, I cried and cried.  Then I saw the movie and was very disappointment.  Clint Eastwood is not a romantic type of guy - he was known for his action movies!

The image was stamped on Very Vanilla Card Stock with Early Espresso.  I used the retiring colors (sniff, sniff) Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, and Certainly Celery to color in the bird, sky, trees and cover bridge. I also used Soft Suede for the roof and fence, Daffodil Delight for the daisies, and Basic Gray for the rocks.  A blender pen was used to blend in the colors.

I covered the book with Fan Fair Designer Series Paper and added a band which you can pull off to read the book

 

The shabby chic flowers are ones I've had for a long, long time - they were attached to the band which holds the book close. 

I used the retiring Lovely Letters Stamp Set (letter J) on the lower right hand corner.

Hi Stampin' Friends!

The  inspiration for this card came for Vickie Burke, a fantastic, very talented demonstrator.  I love her watercoloring!

I used the image of the hydrangea flower from Best of Birthdays Clear Mount Stamp Set.  

With spring comes green grass, blue skies, and of course flowers! Then what could be better for our March “Best Of” set than a collection of the best flower stamps from the past quarter-century? This set also includes a never-before-seen flower image that coordinates perfectly with our 1-1/4" Scallop Circle punch.

Note:

Collect six stickers, and send it in to redeem a FREE set of your choice valued up to $14.95! Free sets must be redeemed no later than April 30, 2014.

The image was stamped twice with Brown Stazon (retired) on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  I then colored in one of the images with a blender pen and More Mustard for center of flowers, Night of Navy for the flowers.  The flower part of the image was then cut out and set aside.

Only the leaves and the stem were colored in Lucky Limeade in the second image.  I then punched it out using the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.  It was then layered onto Night of Navy Card Stock which was die cut using the Delicate Doilies Sizzlets Die.

The background paper (embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder) is from the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper and the base card is Night of Navy Card Stock.  

The last thing I did was to lightly spritzed the card using the Color Spritzer Tool and the Night of Navy Stampin' Write Marker.

I had an "ah ha" moment when I was making this masculine card using the Dapper Dad Stamp Set.  The watch in the stamp set looked just like one of my watches.  So I decide to make the watch more feminine and stamped it in Pretty in Pink and added the Rhinestones.  

I used Pretty in Pink and the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper because they are both going away when the new catalog comes out.   What I like about the Fan Fair DSP is that it is Vintage and I can use it for both masculine and feminine cards.  I'll have to order more before it retires.

I'm not including any general instructions on how to make this card such it's such a simple card and I think you can tell how it was put together just by looking at the card.

Vintage Verses Shabby Chic

Shabby Chic is back!  Lately a lot of my cards have been something other than shabby chic and I started to make a masculine card using the Dapper Dan Clear Mount Stamp Set but it ended up looking like this!

Oh well, I'll start on the masculine card tomorrow - maybe.

I used bits and pieces from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and a left over piece of the gorgeous lace from the Artisan Embellishments Kit.

The "just because" image from the Sale-a-Bration Vintage Verses Clear Mount Stamp Set was stamped in Pretty in Pink on Very Vanilla Card Stock.

It when then embossed using the Designer Frames Embossing Folder and then die cut using the Labels Collection Framelits.

The flower is from the 5/8" Flower Trim and was lightly brushed on the tips with the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write Marker.

The leaves were made using Certainly Celery Card Stock and a non-SU die.

Dressing up your cards and projects has never been easier! Easily cut stamped dress image from the All Dressed Up Clear Mount Stamp Set using the Dress Up Framelits Die.

Love this set - all the cards I've seen using this stamp set have been adorable. The ladies will be making this card and one other (watch blog for 2nd card in the next coming week) at the Big Shot Class scheduled for Monday, 29 April 2013.  Instead of one card that looks the same for all attendees, I'll provide a different DSP for each card with coordinating card stock.  It will be so much fun to see what they all look like.

I have such an amazing sister!  She has alwas been there for me throughout the years and I love her dearly.  Today's card is for her - or for her birthday!

I used the Amazing Family Clear Mount Stamp Set and the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper.  I love the vintage look of the stamp set.

I'm not sure which version I like the best.  With the pearls or without the pearls?  I'm not sure about the pearls - they look like a bird's egg on a nest.   Let me know which one you like.

 The flowers are from the 5/8" Flower Trim and were dyed using the Calypso Coral Reinker.  The leaves are from the Bird Punch.

 The base card (Calypso Coral Card Stock) was embossed using the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  The sentiment was stamped with Calypso Coral Classic Ink on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  It was then spritzed with the Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Marker and the Color Spritzer Tool for an airbrush look.  This tool is a must for your creative tool belt!

The stunning Blooming with Kindness six-piece stamp set gives you plenty of options for sending your best regards. Includes expressions of support, gratitude, and even birthday wishes. Or use the floral image as a breathtaking focal point for your next scrapbook page!

This card is for my cousin whose birthday is in April - I am way ahead of the game in this case!  Usually I'm making them at the last minute (LOL).

I colored in the flower image using Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade Stampin' Write Markers.  I then lightly spritzed it with water to give it a soft look.   If you look closely you can see where it's darker in some places and lightly in other places.  That's from the spritizing.

The background was embossed using the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder from the Holiday Catalog and it's still available.  The pattern paper is the First Edition Specialty Design Series Paper and  which was punched on the left edge of the DSP with the Eyelet Border Punch (retired).   The gorgeous, gorgeous lace is from the Artisan Embellishments Kit from the Spring Catalog.  Did I say it was gorgeous?

I recently learned that it's easier to attach the lace if you use Sticky Strip.  I was using Tombo Multi-purpose Glue and it would go all over the place (too messy) though I do use it to adhere the card stock together.  But the Sticky Strip is so much better for the lace!

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that we were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary.  In going through some pictures for another project, I came across a picture that was taken during the wedding.  I guess it's one that didn't make it into the album.

We were married on 14 February 1993 at the Loveland Ski area near Denver.  We are wearing ski clothes (even the minister!) because we chose to be married in a quaint little cabin at the top of Lift 2.  We had champagne after the wedding and I remember thinking I didn't want to drink too much because we still had to ski down to the lodge!

Anyhoo!  Today's card does not have any stamping in on it - I chose to use one of the "love" tickets from the Artisan Embellishment Kit.  I love, love this kit and I've ordered several because I don't want to run out of the gorgeous lace that's included in the kit.

The ticket, rose and lace were taken from the Artisan Embellishment Kit and the strip of DSP is from the More Amore Designer Series Paper.  The background is Primrose Petals that was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  The base card is Crumb Cake Card Stock.

Today's card features the vintage Tea Shoppe Clear Mount Stamp Set.  

Whatever your tea preference, this delightful, vintage-inspired ten-piece set has a cup just for you. Coordinates with the Modern Label and Scallop Oval Punches and the Chamomile Stampin' Around Wheel. Use the masking technique to stack the smaller tea cups inside one another for a charming effect!

The tea cup was stamped on Very Vanilla Card Stock with Midnight Muse Classic Ink.  It was then punched out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.  The pattern paper is from the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper which was punched out with the 2 1/4" Circle Punch.

The Very Vanilla Card Stock was embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I only embossed 3/4 of the way down to leave room for the sentiment.  The base card is Soft Suede Card Stock.

 This card was inspired by one I saw on Diana Gibbs blog.  I used Perfect Plum instead of Pretty in Pink and also changed a couple of other things to make it my own.

I hope it's okay to pat yourself on your back but I really, really, really  like the way this card came out.  It shouts SPRING!  So what do you think of this card - does it shout Spring?

The flowers are from the flower trim and were lightly colored on the tips with a Perfect Plum Stampin' Write Marker.  The leaves were punched out using the Owl Punch.

The sentiment is from Vintage Verses and was stamped on Very Vanilla Card Stock with Perfect Plum Classic Ink.  It was then die cut using the Apothecary Accents Framelits.

The gorgeous beautiful lace is from the Artisan Embellishments Kit.

The Very Vanilla background was emblossed using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.  The base card is Perfect Plum Card Stock.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and happy belated St Patrick's Day!  My Husband and I had our first date (Lunch at the Shadows!) on St Patrick's Day a long, long, long time ago!  We dated briefly before moving on and marrying other people but then we found each other again.   Our life together was meant to be!

The Amazing Family Clear Mount Stamp Set is very vintage and on trend.   It is so versatile--and perfect for both Mother's and Father's Day.   It coordinates with the Amazing Accent Stampin' Around Standard Wheel.

This started out as a spring like card but then I discovered I do not have "yellow" card stock in my supplies!  I usually add items to my supply list before I run out but in this case I forgot.   I always think of spring when I come across a black and white card with a "yellow" pop of color and since this weekend was gorgeous, I wanted to make a "spring" card.  But since I didn't have yellow card stock, I decided to use red card stock.  The red color gives the card a more formal look.  What do you think.

Maybe I'll make the same card but with a yellow accent to see which one I like the best.  Well, I better add So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Summer Starfruit to my list before I forget.

The flowers and ribbon are non SU.

Feeling Sentimental

The Feeling Sentimental Clear Mount Stamp Set is one of my favorite sets from the Sale-a-bration Catalog.   I love the vintage look of this set.  

I cased this from a card I found on Pinterest but I can't remember whose it was and it didn't have a watermark on it.  I changed a couple of items to make it my own, i.e., different embossing folder, etc. The ladies made this card at stamp camp today and they really liked the color combination (Midnight Muse and Crumb Cake).

Since it's such a simple card that I won't go into details on how to make this card.

Best of Flowers

Stampin' Up! is bringing back some of your favorite stamp images from the last quarter century and combining them into 12 sets, which will be released - one set per month - during 2013.  Best of Flowers Stamp Set is the 3rd release for the year.

I love, love the bouquet of flowers image in the stamp set.  It was stamped with Versarmark on Watercolor Paper.  I then added Early Espresso Stampin' Emboss Powder and set with the Heat Tool.

I colored in the image using Pink Pirouette, So Saffron and Perfect Plum for the flowers and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers for the stem and leaves.

The background (Fan Fair Designer Series Paper) was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and layered onto Naturals White Card Stock (base card).

The gorgeous lace ribbon is from the Artisan Embellishments Kit.  It's a good thing I ordered several kits because I've used a lot of the lace ribbon from these kits.  I sure hope they carry it as a separate item in the annual catalog.

Pleasant Poppies

Today's card features the Pleasant Poppies Clear Mount Stamp Set or at least part of that stamp set.  As you can see by this picture, I cut the set in half.  

I think I like it better this way.  I've used it only once as a background and I think I'll be able to use it more often this way.

The poppies were stamped with Versamark on Very Vanilla Card Stock and then Black Stampin Emboss Powder and set with the Heat Tool.

I used Riding Hood Red, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze Stampin' Pads and a blender pen to color in the poppies.  The center of the poppy was colored in using Daffodil Delight.

You can't see it in the picture but I double embossed the background.  I  saw this technique on Pinterest and decided to try it.  I first embossed the Very Vanilla Card Stock with the Striped Embossing Folder and then put it through the Big Shot again using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder.  I love the two combinations!  You can see the stripes in the raised areas of the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing.

Elegant Butterfly

I saw this technique on Pinterest (love that Pinterest!)  I'll have a video showing how to do the double embossing sometime next week because  I have a head cold and you don't want to hear my voice right now (LOL).

The Very Vanilla Card Stock was embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots and the Designer Frames Embossing Folders.  That was layered onto Floral District Designer Series Paper.  The butterfly is also from the same DSP and was punched out using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.

The sentiment is from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Brush Set and was printed out on Very Vanilla Card Stock and then die cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits.

The base card is Rose Red Card Stock.

Happy Birthday David

Hi Stampin' Friends It seems that for the first couple of months each year, I'm making birthday cards almost every day!  Today's card is for my hubby David.

I wanted to make a card that showed moonlight sailing.  I tried using the Sail Away stamp but I couldn't get it to come out right and you don't want to see my mistakes!  So I decided to do a search in google for an image that I could use.

When David and I lived in California we used to go moonlight sailing and it was so beautiful being out on the water with the moon shining on the ocean.   It was amazing how much you see out there!

The base card is Not Quite Navy which was embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  The image was layered with Whisper White Card Stock, then Basic Black Card Stock.  The sentiment was printed out using My Digital Studio.
