New Techniques Class

Hi Stampin' Friends

Today's class, though small, was so much fun (or at least that what I heard (LOL!)).  The technique they learned was double embossing.   Here's a picture of the ladies and the cards they made.

Mary Conrardy joined us for the first time.  Mary was in our area visiting her mother-in-law, Dot Conrardy, and was invited to the class.  If you live in the Northwest Arkansas area or are visiting, I would love to have you attend any of my classes.  The New Techniques classes are held on the 4th Friday of each month.  Dates and times of my other classes can be found on my blog.

NatureWalk

Hi Stampin' Friends

This is one of the cards the ladies will be making at Friday's class.  It features the Nature Walk Clear Mount Stamp Set.

I've lost a lot of things in my craft and then they always mysteriously reappear!  Has this every happened to you?  I cannot find my Elegant Eggplant Ink Pad but I'm sure it will turn up.  I had to color in the bird cage with my Elegant Eggplant Stampin' Write Marker.

The leaves were colored in using the Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Marker and the flowers in Elegant Eggplant.  I then stamped it in three random places on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  The top and bottom was embossed using the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder and then sponged with Soft Suede Classic Ink.  The butterfly is from the Papillon Potpourri Clear Mount Stamp Set.

Affection Collection

Vintage style and romance just seem to belong together--as they do in this ornately beautiful eight-piece set. In order for the 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon and the  1/2" Victoria Crochet Trim Ribbon to stay together while I was attaching it to the card, I added Tombo Multi-purpose glue to the Early Espresso ribbon and then glued it to the Victoria Lace Trim.

Grateful for French Foliage

Before I get into today's card, I wanted to let you know that I've preordered the new Stampin' Trimmer found on page 180 of the 2012/2013 Catalog.  I am so excited and can hardly wait until it gets here!  It will be available to you around the 1st of November.

This Friday night, I have a private class in Rogers with Charlene.  The ladies will be making the card shown below.  I'll post the 2nd card tomorrow night.

I used the Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder with the Early Espresso Core'dinations Card Stock.   This card stock was sanded to create an antiqued, distressed, color-popping look using the Stampin' Sanding Block found on page 6 of the Holiday Catalog.  And when you pair it with the above mentioned embossing folder, you have a truly beautiful card!

The bottom layer of the card was embossed using the Stripes Embossing Folder.  I thought it gave the card a tailored sophisticated look.  What do you think?

I added the Cherry Cobbler 3 1/2" Scalloped Tulle Ribbon.  Love it's extra soft feel!

And no card is complete without a butterfly made with the Elegant Butterfly Punch!  The butterfly was embossed using the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder and finished off with some pearls for a touch of class.

The butterflies were embossed with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits on the Vellum Card Stock.  Then I added dots of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Glue to the butterflies.

I wanted to make a simple yet elegant card for today's post.  The butterflies had been laying around my craft table for a couple of days left over from a previous project, so I decided they would be perfect for today's simple card. 

The butterflies are Vellum Card Stock over Pink Pirouette Card Stock.  They were die cut and embossed using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits.  What I like about this die is that it not only die cuts the butterfly but also embosses it! I've added Dazzling Details glitter glue around the edges to give the butterflies a sparkle.

Tip:  Use Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue to attach the Vellum butterfly to the Pink Pirouette butterfly.  It dries clear and does not show.

The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set. 

The background was embossed using the gorgeous new Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder from the Holiday Mini.  This embossing folder is a must for elegant holiday cards!

Monster Mash

When I saw this card by Connie Babbert on SUDSOL, I had to copy it!  Well, not exactly copy but I was very inspired by it and made my version of the card. And I have the perfect song to accompany it.  It's Monster Mash from the 60's and I can still see my friends dancing to it at parties.

Our Googly Ghouls have eyes made especially to be covered with Googlies--adhesive-backed googly eyes. This not-so-scary six-piece set coordinates with the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit--so you can make creative treat bags for little ghosts and goblins.

Aren't these guys sooooo cute!  They actually seem to be dancing to "Monster Mash".  I usually don't make too many Halloween cards but all the images in this stamp set are so adorable that I will be making cards for my grandchildren this year!

Here's today's card - it's one that the ladies will be making at the Big Shot Class tomorrow.  If any one lives in the Northwest Arkansas area (Bella Vista) and would like to attend next month's Big Shot Class, please send me an e-mail and I'll put you on the list.  The Big Shot classes are held on the 4th Friday of every month.  The card uses the Affection Collection Stamp Set  which is gorgeous and vintage - my favorite type!

Once in a while I try and bring out a stamp set or embossing folder that hasn't been used for a while.  The Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder is a beautiful embossing folder and perfect for the clean and simple look in a card.

World Treasures

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Weather has been perfect around here - you want to be outdoors or at least I do!

The card features the World Treasures Stamp Set and the sentiment is from the My Friend Stamp Set.    I stamped the peacock with Midnight Muse Classic Ink, added Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder and set it with our new Heat Tool.  

Don't know if you can see it but it is so pretty IRL.  The peacock just sparkles.

 Here's another angle, perhaps you can see the iridescent ice on the peacock.

 Tips:

1. You can use the new ink pads for embossing.  The embossing powders stick right to it.
2. Our new Heat Tool has two settings, (low for drying the new inks and high for embossing).

World Treasures

Hi Stampin' Friends

I made today's card for Debbie's private class on Thursday, 19 July 2012 and uses the World Treasures Stamp Set and Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set.  It's cased from the card shown on page 98 of the 2012-2013 Catalog.

Famous for their showy feathers, peacocks are also a symbol of fidelity. Use this four-piece set to create a unique card expressing your love for someone special. Coordinates with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies and the exotic International Bazaar Designer Series Paper.

I stamped the peacock image in Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple on Whisper White Card Stock.  The last layer was colored in using  the Tangerine Tango and Lucky Limeade Stampin' Write Markers.   I then cut them out individually - yes, it took a while!  The Summer Starfruit layer was not cut but punched with the Scallop Circle Punch.

This pix taken after all layers had been cut out and adhered together. TIP:  Before cutting out the peacock, add scotch tape to the back of the image.  It stablizes the tiny sections when you cut around them.

 

I made a mistake when I put the card together and didn't see it until I was taking a picture for the blog.  The first person who guess what the mistake was, will win a stack of 6 x 6 2011/2012 DSP (last year's).  Just leave a comment on the post and please include an e-mail address.  US only please!

Delicate Doilies

Today's post will be really short becausee I'm getting ready for tomorrow's class and I don't feel that well.  I think it's something I ate!

I'm using Delicate Doilies and Layered Labels for today's card and the colors Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple.  I really love the new foam ink pads, everything stamps so clear, sharp and the images ink up so much better without pounding on them like we used to with the old pads!  I'm slowly replacing all my ink pads with the new ones.

Gotta go and finish cutting up the card stock for tomorrow's class!

Creative Elements Part 2

I received my Holiday mini today and all I can saw is WOW!!!!! - stay tuned.

Here's the matching card to yesterday's bird house using the Creative Elements Stamp Set.   The ladies at Linda's private class on Thursday will be making these two items.

The technique for this card is called reverse masking and I got the idea from Patty Bennett's blog. 

The butterfly is the new Elegant Butterfly Punch from page 184 of the 2012/2013 Catalog.  This punch coordinates with the new elegant Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set found on page 115 of the new catalog.  Aren't these butterflies gorgeous?  I just ordered this set and it's on its way to me WHOOHOO!

I love the way these match perfectly!  And I love the colors - the Summer Starfruit is starting to grow on me.  Love it with the Cajun Craze color.  What do you think of the Summer Starfruit?  It's one of the new 2012/2014 in colors.

New type of class

I am now offering private classes in your home.  This is not a workshop and purchase of products is not required though there is a class fee. If you are interested in holding a class in your home, please contact me for questions and/or scheduling.  Currently I can schedule classes in the Northwest Arkansas (Bella Vista, Rogers, Bentonville, Lowell, Springdale) area.

Summer Afternoon - Petite Purse

 Hi Stampin' Friends

It's a beautiful weekend in Northwest Arkansas.  I hope you are having pleasant weather. It's been such a nice spring this year.

Well, I finally finished the petite purse - not that it was that hard to make but I had to redo it a couple of times because I kept making dumb mistakes.  The ladies will be making the purse at Jane's private class on Monday and at the Big Shot Class on Friday, 25 May 2012.  If you live in the Northwest Arkansas area (Bella Vista) and would like to attend, there's still time to register.  Details here....

The finished product is so cute and I used the new Comfort Cafe DSP (love it!) to cover the front of the purse.  I learned a few things in making this purse and wanted to let you know so that you don't make the same mistakes I did!

Tips:

• My score (fold) lines were too deep and I had to add scotch tape to the fold lines so that the purse would not come apart.  Add it to the inside of the purse and it will not show.
• You need to make the slit larger if you are adding another layer (such as DSP) for the flap (front part that has the small flower on it.  You'll see the slit in the video below (provided by Stampin' Up!).
• If your pattern on the DSP has a direction to it, you need to make sure that you lay the DSP in the same direction as the purse.  I had to redo the purse when I discovered that the pattern was slightly askew. (see photo below for placement of DSP)

 I thought I would add the video from Stampin' Up! on how easy it is to make the Petite Purse.   It really is!

Adios Flower Fancy

I am so excited - tomorrow  or at 12 am (mountain time), the new catalog will be online!  Don't know whether I will stay up or get up extra early to see what's in the new catalog!  Based on the preorder items that are available for demonstrators to preorder, I will absolutely love it!  My order of new items should be in on Wednesday so I'll have new things to show the ladies at class on Friday and, of course you via this blog!  Now to calm down - take a deep breath!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  We spent Saturday on a Miata Club outing and it was so nice to be riding around in the car in such beautiful weather!

We ended up in Eureka Springs where we had lunch at a place called Sparky's.  Interesting place and the food was really good!

We finally got home about 5 pm exhausted but happy (and sunburned!).  I've got to put more Coppertone on! 

 

 

 

 

 

Today's card is for my sister Becky.  I decided to make it a simple one since I don't think she likes too much foofoo (spelling?) on her cards.
